Trees have played a central role in depicting humanity's changing relationship with God. Fruit trees symbolize God's bountiful provision. The tree of the Knowledge and the tree of life, represented the primary choices for inciting the man and the woman to rebellion and the place where they seek to hide from God. Finally, when the man and the woman are cast out of the garden, their way is barred from "the way to the tree of life".
Though the tree of knowledge we entered into rebellion and death, however through Christ we have entered into the path of reconciliation by the Tree of life. (Refer to Gen 1,2,3)
Trees throughout scripture have been used figuratively to speak of mans spiritual condition before God. (Refer to Ps1:1-6 Through the prophets the tree has also been used to represent the rise and fall of kingdoms upon the earth. (Refer to Daniel 4:9-17 Jeremiah 1:1-12).
Specifically the curriculum is named after Isaiah 61:3:
Isaiah 61:3 "To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.”
